Martin Hirigoyen Kelly
He trained in Plastic Surgery in Oxford and London, and passed the Plastic Surgery Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1999 FRCS (Plast.). He was awarded a Travelling Scholarship to carry out research in Microsurgery and Facial Reconstruction at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, where he spent two years as a fellow and surgical resident in the division of Plastic Surgery. Based on his thesis, he was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) by the University of London in 1997, which was recommended for the Rogers prize.
Developing an interest in all aspects of facial reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, he trained in craniofacial surgery at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, and Great Ormond Street Hospital. He then spent a year's fellowship in orbito-craniofacial surgery at Hospital Foch, Paris. During his three years abroad he gained substantial experience in aesthetic surgery with leading American and French surgeons.
Mr Kelly was entered into the GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery in 2001. He is a full member of the British Association of Plastic Surgeons (BAPS) and the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), and an associate member of the European Society of Craniofacial Surgery. He has published over thirty peer-reviewed papers in Plastic Surgery, has presented internationally in the USA, France, Mexico and China, and has an active clinical research program. He has a continued interest in humanitarian surgery, and is co-founder of a charitable organisation to treat children from poor countries with severe facial deformity. He is currently a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, and at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London.
His interests include all aspects of aesthetic facial, breast and body contouring surgery, with a specialist interest in facial plastic surgery.
